If you want to know the best way to buy a gyrocopter, the answer is: join a local gyro club then listen and learn! That’s what I did. And after waiting, patiently, for over a year, I finally found a great deal on a terrific gyro, and bought it.
It’s called a Gyrobee, and there is no manufacturer; it’s not made by anyone. The plans are freely available on the Internet, and anyone can build it. This one was built by Rick Martin, and the craft won a prize at a Sun-N-Fun event a few years ago. Rick is very meticulous about everything, and I just happened to be the person who was there right when he decided to sell it. Many others had wanted it; I got very lucky!
I had to drive to Florida to pick it up, but luckily it fit into my Kolb trailer. Before bringing it home, I made a side trip to Georgia, to get some gyro training. My next several blog entries will be mainly about the training.
