I ran across this today… live Air Traffic Control (ATC) feeds — LiveATC.com.
If you are a wanna-be pilot, a UL pilot without any experience with radio work, or just a regular pilot who doesn’t get enough practice, it’s fun and interesting to listen in to ATC. These are live feeds, too, so it’s always new and exciting!
Not that it really matters, but the closest one to here is Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Austin. But, really, what matters more is the Class. If you’re a beginner, I’d stick with the Class D airports… Class C if none of the D’s are available (College Station is just up the road from me, but their feed is down today). There’s less traffic in a Class D, and the traffic that is there, is more likely to be the kind of traffic you’ll encounter. But it is interesting to listen (or, try to listen… they talk pretty fast in the Class B areas) to listen to the major ATCs bring in the big iron.
Even if you don’t use the radio very often, it’s always a good idea to listen in from time to time just so you keep sharp on understanding the information that is expected during a radio transmission.
